The hummingbirds are always hungry it seems, no matter how many flowers are blooming. I try to keep our four feeders filled with a plain sugar water mixture. Four parts water to one part sugar, heated for about 12 minutes in the microwave to get the sugar to dissolve well. I don’t add any color as they don’t need it and I refrigerate any leftovers.

Last week I got a new hummingbird feeder. All seem designed for hanging but I wanted one to set on the porch so I adapted it for the purpose.  All it took was a iron candle stand and some wire to hold the feeder on top. I ran some wire around the flowers and under and around the stand to keep it steady.  It only took a few minutes for the little birds to find the new feeder and it wasn’t long before they were squabbling over that one too!
